Nick WolfeAround 2000/2001 I enquired about a job with British Waterways while at a show, and was told they weren't taking people on, then was handed a leaflet for 'The Friends of the Working Boats ( now 'The Working Boat Project`).
This got me deeply interested in the Waterways of England and Historic Boats and Canal Carrying. After several years of steering and then skippering B.W.'s fleet of Historic Boats around shows, I joined 'The Narrow Boat Trust`to get experience with loaded boats, becoming a Senior Skipper, Training Officer and Boat Manager. I had already decided by then I wanted my own boat, and to 'work it. Using my travels with the NBT as an observation platform, I found the 'Aldgate` at Denham on the Grand Union Canal, and bought her in Sept 2007. After a year of restoring the boat to carrying condition, I set up "Nick Wolfe - Canal Carrying Company" I am a RYA qualified Helmsman and MCA qualified Boatmaster. |
